Read Then PeekTM
A first-of-its-kind 30-book box set for PreK–2 that puts pictures where they belong in the initial stages of decoding — to confirm meaning, not support guessing.
Pictures are great, but they can wait!
Where Every Peek Builds Confidence
Blend the sounds to read the words. Then peek to see if you're right!
Read Then PeekTM helps beginning readers build their decoding skills through blending learned sounds, not guessing using picture cues.
How Read Then PeekTM Works
Words are presented with no pictures. Students decode them by blending learned sounds, then lift a flap to reveal playful illustrations to confirm what they read. Each durable, high-quality book builds accuracy, confidence, and joy!
Each book features vibrant pictographs, where a picture is built into the letter itself to help beginners learn letter sounds. Also included are tips for reading irregular words, punctuation, and more. The full set also provides adults with help cards to assist new readers with pronouncing sounds, blending sounds, and distinguishing between b and d.
Developed for educators, families, and libraries, this 30-book box set turns research into joyful reading practice.
Tips for
Reading this Book
Show your new reader capital letters in these books. Explain that capital letters help us know that a word can be someone's name, or that it is the beginning of a sentence.
If your reader has difficulty blending sounds, see the Blending Sounds Help Card.
